Installation

How to install ReelPlus from the Shopify App Store, authorize the required permissions, and complete initial setup.

This guide covers the full installation process for ReelPlus, including finding the app, authorizing permissions, and verifying that everything is set up correctly.


Finding ReelPlus in the Shopify App Store

There are two ways to access the ReelPlus listing:

Option A: Search the App Store

  1. Log in to your Shopify Admin.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Apps.
  3. Click Shopify App Store at the bottom of the apps list (or visit apps.shopify.com directly).
  4. In the search bar, type ReelPlus and press Enter.
  5. Click on the ReelPlus listing in the results.

If you received a direct installation link from our team or a partner, simply click the link. It will take you straight to the installation authorization screen.


Installing the App

  1. On the ReelPlus app listing page, click the Add app button.
  2. Shopify will redirect you to your admin and display a permissions authorization screen.
  3. Review the requested permissions (explained below).
  4. Click Install app to complete the installation.

The installation takes just a few seconds. Once complete, ReelPlus will appear in your Shopify Admin sidebar under Apps > ReelPlus.


Required Permissions Explained

When you install ReelPlus, Shopify asks you to authorize specific permissions. Here is what each permission is used for and why it is required:

Read productsTo display product information (title, price, image, availability) inside video widgets when customers interact with tagged products.
Read and write themesTo allow the ReelPlus widget blocks to appear in your Theme Editor and render on your storefront pages.
Read ordersTo track revenue attribution — when a customer watches a video and makes a purchase, ReelPlus connects that order to the video for analytics.
Read and write pixels and customer eventsTo enable conversion tracking through Shopify's web pixel system, measuring add-to-cart events, purchases, and other customer interactions originating from video widgets.
Read and write filesTo upload and manage video files and thumbnails within your Shopify file storage.

Note: ReelPlus only accesses the data it needs to function. Your data is never sold or shared with third parties. All communication between ReelPlus and Shopify uses encrypted connections.


After Installation

Once the app is installed, here is what to expect:

1. App Dashboard

Click ReelPlus in your Shopify Admin sidebar to open the app. You will see the main dashboard with sections for:

  • Videos — Your video library (empty at first)
  • Widgets — Your widget list (empty at first)
  • Analytics — Performance data (populates once widgets are live)
  • Settings — App configuration, language, branding, and plan management

2. Choose Your Plan

ReelPlus offers a free plan to get started, along with paid plans that unlock additional features like higher video limits, advanced analytics, and priority support. You can start on the free plan and upgrade at any time from the Settings > Plan page.

3. Upload Your First Video

Head to the Videos section and upload your first video or import one from social media. See the Quick Start guide for step-by-step instructions.


Verifying the Installation

To confirm everything is working correctly:

  1. Open the app — Go to Apps > ReelPlus in your Shopify Admin. The dashboard should load without errors.
  2. Check the Theme Editor — Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize. Click "Add section" and search for "ReelPlus." If the ReelPlus block appears in the list, the theme integration is active.
  3. Upload a test video — Try uploading a short video clip. If the upload completes and you see a thumbnail, the file storage connection is working.

If all three checks pass, your installation is complete and you are ready to create your first widget.


Troubleshooting Common Issues

The app does not appear in my admin sidebar

  • Make sure the installation completed fully. Go back to the Shopify App Store, find ReelPlus, and check if the button says "Open app" (installed) or "Add app" (not installed).
  • Try refreshing your Shopify Admin page.

I do not see ReelPlus in the Theme Editor

  • ReelPlus blocks require an Online Store 2.0 compatible theme. If you are using a vintage (legacy) theme, the blocks will not appear in the Theme Editor.
  • Make sure you are looking in the correct location: click Add section at the page level, or Add block inside an existing section. Search for "ReelPlus."
  • If you recently installed the app, try refreshing the Theme Editor.

Permission errors or access denied

  • Ensure you are logged in as the store owner or a staff member with full permissions.
  • If you see permission-related errors, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
  • Contact our support team if the issue persists.

The app loads slowly or shows a blank screen

  • Check your internet connection and try refreshing the page.
  • Clear your browser cache or try a different browser.
  • If the problem continues, reach out to our support team with a screenshot of any error messages.
